Jump up and wave your arms around: Bluebird Extravaganza

August 18, 2009

There’s a good reason I’m into sunnys… they’re small and lightweight but they’re also small and lightweight. Well that and you can fix them with a piece of sandpaper and a screwdriver. In saying that, I can fully appreciate the larger nostalgics. They always look that bit more impressive, like ” how is that huge thing so low”.

So onto one of my favourite heavy weights, the Datsun 180B (610).

Possibly the coolest thing about these luxury liners, apart from the crouch stimulating body lines and accessories; is how massive the fenders are. You can fit some stupidly big wheels under them, they swallow 8′s like a sumo wrestler and go back for another dish.

A while ago I saw a picture of a black 180B two door with a radicalstance and an obnoxious chin spoiler and ever since then they’ve been one of my favourites. This Longchamp XR4 swallowing B is a four door as you can see but I guess it makes it look more of a cruiser, until it starts sliding around anyway.

A classic body shape if I’ve ever seen one. It’s been added to the list

You can’t just roll around by yourself now can you. A coupe, a B310 and a 510 accompany

SSR MK1s

Now, apart from it looking pretty it also goes pretty well. You can’t argue with a 13 second 400m time.

Can you tell these dudes are excited? They’re getting dancey, the reason for the post title

Cheers Zeppann for the photos and G-works for the video

      Guys.
That is no 610, nor an 810. The car we are seing is a relative of the 610 ( in fact, 2/3rds are 610 car, except for the front section and grille, plus the 6 cyl in place of the 4 cyl in the 610) it is the Datsun/Nissan GT2000.
It was not sold in the US.

    Hi.
This is not a 610, not an 810 either. This is the Datsun/Nissan GT2000, sold only in Japan. It is a 610 with a longer engine bay and fenders, using a 6 cylinder motor. The grille and headlamps are different, but the rest of the car is identical to the 610, from rear to the firewall.
