Sunday was without a doubt the happiest I’ve been since I left Australia in March. This Datsun of mine has been off the road for an eternity due to a number of distractions and money guzling activities so to have it driving and to drift with my friends again after so long, made me grin from ear to ear. Note to self: don’t start projects that are outside your current financial and time means. I only entered for a half day as I was yet to give it a real beating and didn’t know how it would handle it all. It worked out for the best however as on my last run before lunch I did a particularly heavy footed run and put a hole in the radiator! It looks like the factory plastic fan flexed enough to catch the bottom tank which is placed (foolishly) close to the fan. The blade slid off and put a hole in one of the core lines. I haven’t had it out yet but it should be fixable. The biggest entry contest that went down in the afternoon was what I was really looking forward too and I’m super gutted I didn’t get to compete… next time.
Massive thanks to my homies Joel and Mike for organizing a killer day and to the photographers who where out in the rain (I know how it feels haha) Mr. Roo Wills shot these photos and there are more on his blog stay classy that you should go look at, thanks Roo!
CS GARAGE BBQ – APRIL 2011 #2

I am excited… so incredibly excited, for what 2012 will bring (apart from the end of the world) in terms of this group of cars and dudes.

Joel’s yellow car
October 26, 2011

I was peering around my film folders for something worth posting whilst I make time to develop these TT photos and how can you go past this? Man it’s been a while homey, looking forward to seeing this hovercraft float around again one day. The kit was a bit roughed up at this time, the front lip was half its normal size. These were the last photos taken of the kranze on the rear before they were sold. C’s garage

Adam – 86Day Taupo
August 14, 2011

Adam shows off the Corolla’s Billspeer lock with a big feint entry into turn one. What’s awesome about this photo is that you’d usually expect it to be a spin photo due to being a corolla but in fact most of the entries looked like this and were carried well into the switch

Keeping close to the inside of the corner for the beginning of the weight transfer

I must have taken a good 30 photos of the Starsharks at counter angle, the twin star shape looks so cool with a slow shutter speed and it really shows how much the wheel sits forward in the guard.

This last photo is of Mark in Craig’s (his dad) SR20DET Levin chasing Adam into the entry. Although the SR has much more power, the wet meant the chase was a little more even. I think Mark went a bit to deep into the entry on this one but two red Toyotas in chase is to good not to post.

I can’t say to much about these photos, it pretty much looked like this all day. Tonnes of angle, tonnes of track time. I took 300 photos just of Adam yesterday, it’s hard to take a bad photo of this car. It sucks there’s no passenger seat otherwise I would have definitely hustled a ride out of him.
Day of the AE86 / Taupo August 2011
August 8, 2011

Adam set up to pass Nick in the last corner, both cars run Billspeer. Although not quite showing full lock yet, trying to drift Miatas without them sucks big time.
8/6/2011, day of the AE86 2011. In celebration of this (any excuse to go drifting) Katsu and Picket organised a drift day at Taupo’s Track 3 with priority on AE86s and similar low powered cars. The drift gods took pity on the small engines and dampened the track for about half the day. At first I was pretty bummed about this because wet drifting sucks but it was actually a blessing which allowed for proper 3rd gear entries. It was the first time on the track for many so the day started out some what slow but after a few sessions most got right into it and it was good to see everyone improve greatly by the end of the day. The rain stopped in the last few sessions and the track dried out, which made it harder for most of the field but allowed dudes like Brendan and Teeboon in their high power AE86s to get some proper runs in.
I spent the weekend with metal in my eye making me feel and look like death (going to the hospital today to get it out). I also haven’t picked up my digital camera for months now so the photos are kind of rusty but I managed a few pretty cool ones none the less. I’m sorting through them now so expect to see more over the next few days. Mr. Olly J was also there getting video so keep an eye out there. It was a killer day, one of the best track days in a while. Thanks Katsu and Picket for organising and cheers to those who gave me rides, hopefully it won’t be long till I can add some Datsun to the mix.

HYPER STEERING BY BILLSPEER
I did some quick product shots for Adam and Joel a few weeks back of their growing Billspeer line. We both know you want some so go here and tell them you want to go backwards.
